Bird Tour on Saturday August 25, 8:00am to 10:00am, Mahnomen Trailhead The Bird Tour will be held on Saturday, August 25 beginning at 8:00 am. Meet your guides, Refuge Volunteers Steve Chesney and Bob Janssen, at the Mahnomen Trailhead on Sherburne County Road 9, approximately 5 miles west of Highway 169. Be on the lookout for raptors, waterfowl, warblers, flycatchers, sparrows and other species. Every level of experience is encouraged to join. The hike will be approximately 1-3 miles long. Binoculars will be available to borrow. Please wear weather appropriate clothing and close-toed shoes and, if you choose, bring binoculars, camera, field guides, water, a snack, sunscreen, and bug spray. Be advised that poison ivy is common on the refuge.
