The Monticello Times team received multiple awards in the Better Newspaper Contest
The Monticello Times team received multiple awards in the Better Newspaper Contest at the annual convention of the Minnesota Newspaper Association held Jan. 24 in Bloomington.
Times Editor Jeff Hage won the second-place award in general news reporting category. The award was presented in the small-size weekly division. It’s the second consecutive year Hage has received the award. He won the first-place award in 2018 for his work at the Union-Times of Princeton and Milaca. Hage and Account Executive Craig Dahlberg won a first-place award for best self promotion ad, which featured the Times staff in Minnesota Vikings jerseys while declaring the Monticello Times is, “The team that brings the news to you every week."
On Feb. 21 the Monticello Times rolled outs its new publication geared towards those 55 and older. Called “My Generation,” the publication will be printed and inserted into the Monticello Times and Crow River News three times a year: February, May and September. The February issue features a cover story on a 57-year-old woman who was once a clown with Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus as well as a story on the Cue Masters- the local team in a billiards league based at the Monticello Senior Center.
Monticello Times account executive Craig Dahlberg was inducted into the Minnesota Newspaper Association’s “Half-Century Club” in recognition of Dahlberg’s 50-plus years of service in the newspaper industry. A plaque commemorating the honor was presented to Dahlberg during the noon luncheon at the Minnesota Newspaper Association’s annual convention.
