Description
The Monticello Chamber and Monticello Community Center are combining our Trick or Treat events again this year. Enjoy Trick or Treating down Walnut Street and Downtown Monticello at businesses with an orange pumpkin in their windows, then into West Bridge Park for more fun and then you are invited to stroll down the boardwalk under the Hwy 25 bridge to the participating businesses on the East side of Hwy 25.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Dept. and the City of Monticello are concerned with the families crossing the Hwy 25 intersection. So we encourage using the board walk from West & East Bridge Parks to safely move from one side of Hwy 25 to the other. This will also alleviate traffic congestion on Hwy 25.
Please respect our crossing guards when traveling around during the evening.
Businesses: Please register with the Chamber office by October 8th to be included on the map. If you have a store front in the downtown area, you will receive a pumpkin poster to display in your window/doorway so participants know to stop.
If you do not have a store front in the downtown area or simply do not want to interrupt your business hours, you can request to set up in West Bridge Park. (All business or organization entries in West Bridge Park will receive a 10 X 10 space and must stay within their area. You are responsible for your entire display. Table, chair, canopy, signage, handouts) We expect approximately 2,000 participants.
Public does not need to register to participate, please come and enjoy the fun!
$$ There is no cost to the businesses for this event. This is an annual event that happens the Thursday before Halloween.
How to register: Contact the Chamber office 763-295-2700 or info@monticellocci.com to register your business for the event by October 8th to be included on the map. After the 8th you may still participate in the event but you will not be listed on the map. You can register online by visiting our website www.monticellocci.com, click on event.
How do children know you are a stop? An orange pumpkin poster will be delivered to your business or you can stop by the Chamber office and pick one up, that you should hang in a clearly visible spot in your window so the kids will recognize you as a stop.
How many children can you expect? Every year we have more and more participants in this fun night out. This year we are recommending that you have enough treats for 1800-2000 children.
How can you get a frame for the scarecrow decorating? We encourage all of the businesses to make a scarecrow to hang up on the city poles and trees. Refrain from securing them to an Xcel Energy pole or directional signs. We have a very limited amount of frames at the Chamber office that can be used to decorate to advertise your business. We also provide zip ties to secure them, please refrain from using wire or anything else that could scratch the poles. They can go up anytime but must be down by Monday, November 1st. All scarecrow frames should be returned to the Chamber office as soon as possible after that date.
How is the event advertised? We advertise with 2 black signs, we hang the orange pumpkin posters in all participating businesses. This event is listed on the Chamber website event calendar and Facebook page.
We are again combining this event with the Monticello Community Center like years previous. If your business is not located downtown we will provide a space in West Bridge Park where you can set up a tent to pass treats out to the children. Then kids can venture under the bridge and visit the businesses on the east side of Hwy 25 also (Walgreens, Action Plus, Live Laugh & Bloom Floral, etc.).
